Parquet has a very different appearance than typical hardwoods.

They originally consisted of many small pieces of exotic wood arranged in intricate geometric patterns. Modern parquet floors consist of solid wooden tiles that are pre-arranged in patterns, making them easy to install. Hardwood floors parkett kaufen are generally the cheapest, but they are more difficult to repair than other hardwood floors and their lifespan is relatively shorter.

Hardwood floors come in many designs, from plain hardwood to wicker and herringbone. They come in large tiles consisting of geometric designs made up of individual slats of wood held in place by a paper or plastic grid backing. The visual effects of hardwood floors can be quite impressive, and variety can be brought into the room simply by moving a rug or piece of furniture to reveal or cover different patterns.

Parquet floors can be fixed to either a wooden or a concrete sub-floor , but concrete sub-floors often require an underlay to level out any unevenness. Because the smaller pieces arranged in different directions result in less overall cross-grain expansion, parquet is a good choice in areas where the moisture content of the flooring can be expected to change significantly over time.

Parquet is available in different woods such as oak, cherry, mahogany, beech and walnut. It’s a good idea to try out the pattern you want to lay out by laying out a test layout before final installation.

The wood tiles should be stored in the room where they are to be laid for at least 24 hours to allow them to adjust to the temperature and humidity. You should buy about 5% more flooring than you estimate to make up for any mistakes. The extra material, when not needed, could come in handy later in the event of damage.

In contrast to strip or plank floors, parquet is laid in two directions at the same time. When installing parquet, you should start in the middle of the room and work outwards towards the walls. This creates a centered and well-aligned geometric pattern.

Find the center of the room by measuring from wall to wall.

Catch a chalk line between the middle of the opposing walls, and then another chalk line between the other two walls. The intersection between the two lines is the midpoint. Make sure the two intersecting lines form right angles. Lay a sample parquet along the chalk lines, starting in the middle, towards the wall. Adjust the center so the tiles aren’t cut too thin at the edges of the room.

Using a trowel, apply glue to a 2 x 2 foot area at the intersection of the chalk lines and allow it to thicken and become tacky. Using firm pressure, place a tile onto the adhesive using the lines for placement. Make sure the placement of the first tile is correct as it parkett dielen will determine the layout of the entire floor. Tap the tile in place with a mallet and place a piece of scrap wood on top to protect the tile. If glue seeps between the tiles, clean with a cloth soaked in solvent. Work toward each wall, filling in one quadrant at a time. Use a piece of plywood as a kneeboard to avoid putting your weight on a single tile.
