CAT ELIGIBILITY: OVERVIEW
The Common Admission Test, also known as the CAT, is a challenging and well-known entrance examination for postgraduate management programmes (MBA) in India. Some of the most prestigious management institutions across the nation, such as the Indian Institutes of Management, are responsible for the delivery of these programmes (IIMs). In order to take the CAT, candidates are required to go through the registration process first and also check the CAT Eligibility Criteria.
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability are the three components that come together to form the CAT examination, which is administered once a year, typically in the month of November. The candidates will take the examination in an online format, and they will have a total of 180 minutes to answer the 100 questions that will be presented to them.

CAT ELIGIBILITY: THE CAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the CAT exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. The minimum percentage of marks required may vary for different institutes, but typically it is 50% for general category candidates and 45% for SC/ST/PwD category candidates.

There is no specific age limit for appearing in the CAT exam.
2.Nationality:
Indian nationals, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to apply for the CAT exam.
3.Reservation:
Reservation of seats is as per the rules of the participating institutes, and candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories are eligible for relaxation in the minimum percentage of marks required for the educational qualification.

CAT ELIGIBILITY: CAT SYLLABUS
The CAT exam tests candidates on their proficiency in three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). Here is a brief overview of the syllabus for each section:
1.Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC):
This section assesses a candidate’s proficiency in English language and comprehension. The syllabus includes topics such as reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, antonyms and synonyms, sentence correction, and para jumbles.
2.Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR):
This section tests a candidate’s ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets, and to make logical deductions and inferences. The syllabus includes topics such as bar graphs, line charts, pie charts, tables, Venn diagrams, blood relations, logical sequencing, and syllogisms.
3.Quantitative Ability (QA):
This section assesses a candidate’s mathematical and quantitative reasoning abilities. The syllabus includes topics such as number systems, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, arithmetic, permutations and combinations, and probability.
It’s important to note that the syllabus for the CAT exam is not fixed, and the specific topics and question types may vary from year to year. Candidates are advised to consult the official CAT website for the latest syllabus and exam pattern updates.
CAT ELIGIBILITY: CAT CUT OFF
The CAT cutoff 2023 is not yet determined as the exam is scheduled to be held later in the year. The CAT cutoff is the minimum percentile score that a candidate must obtain in order to qualify for further selection rounds and secure admission to the participating institutes. The cutoff percentile may vary from institute to institute and depends on factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats.
After the CAT results are announced, each participating institute releases its own cutoff percentile for admission to their management programs. Generally, the cutoff percentile for top IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) can range from 90 to 99 percentile, while other leading institutes may have a cutoff percentile ranging from 80 to 90 percentile.
It’s important to note that meeting the cutoff percentile does not guarantee admission, as the selection process also involves other factors such as academic performance, work experience, performance in group discussions and personal interviews, and other criteria specific to the participating institutes.
CAT ELIGIBILITY: CAT RESUTS
As of now, CAT 2023 has not been officially announced. However, based on previous years’ trends, the CAT exam is usually conducted in November or December, and the results are typically announced in the first or second week of January.
So, if CAT 2023 follows a similar schedule, the results for the exam are expected to be announced in January 2024. However, this is subject to change depending on any updates or announcements made by the conducting authority. uydam
